There are many exciting things to do in Cookeville this weekend! The fun begins at the Putnam County Fairgrounds. That's right the fair is in town, and this is the last weekend to attend! The fair ends this Saturday, Aug. 14. The cost is $3 per day or $15 for the season pass. 5 years old and under are free as is the parking for the event. The events for the rest of the weekend of the fair are as follows:
Thursday, Aug. 12:
6 p.m.- Petting Zoo & Pony Rides
6 p.m.- County Horse Show
7 p.m.- Hub City Bluegrass (Stage 2)
Friday, Aug. 13:
6 p.m.- Open Beef Cattle Show & Junior Livestock & 4-H Junior, Junior Beef & Heifer Show
6 p.m.- Petting Zoo & Pony Rides
7 p.m.- Demolition Derby/ Local Competition (Main Arena)
Saturday, Aug. 14:
9 a.m.- Big Truck Show
9 a.m.- Cornhole Tournament
12-4 p.m.- 4-H Youth Pet Show (Stage 2)
3 p.m.- Petting Zoo & Pony Rides
7 p.m.- Demolition Derby (Main Arena)
Another happening in Cookeville this weekend is the Murder Mystery Dinner Fundraiser held this Saturday, Aug. 14 at Thomas Andrew's Restaurant at 6 p.m.
Thomas Andrew's Restaurant and Out On A Limb Productions will present an evening of mystery, mayhem and murder. Thomas Andrew's will be transformed into Mama Maria's, a little Italian bistro with a big story.
Tickets are $25 per person, which includes an Italian dinner and the mystery. A cash bar will be available. A portion of the proceeds to be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which is dedicated to finding a cure for Breast Cancer.
Payment for tickets can be made by cash or check to Thomas Andrew's the night of the performance, but seating is limited to 75 guests so reservations are strongly suggested.
